Hylke is a magnificent 1994 model Ster friesian gelding out of Olof,
imported from Holland in 2000. Hylke has a great history; he was
hand chosen and owned by the Queen of Holland, Queen Beatrix, to be part
of her 8-horse friesian team that pulls her Golden Carriage. Hylke, however,
did not grow as tall as the Queen's liking, so he was sold.
(Queen Beatrix' Royal Carriage; The Hague)
Hylke proceeded to become a Premier Champion driving horse; a 7-time
Champion Sjees Driving Horse in his home town of Friesland! He was shown
through to the final round of stallion testing in Holland in 1998, and he was
the featured driving horse at the 2000 Friesian Extravaganza evening
performance in Reno, NV!
The video link above features Hylke in the final round of Stallion Testing
in Holland, a clip of when he was first imported in the US in 2000, and an
awesome clip of him under harness at the 2000 Friesian Extravaganza in Reno!
